Additional Information about our staff:

Who we hire:

Lead Program and Camp Coaches:
Lead Coaches are often Elementary School Teachers, Physical Education Teachers, current youth sport coaches, or college students studying relevant majors (Early Childhood Education, Physical Education, Recreation, Coaching, etc).

Assistant Program and Camp Coaches:
Teachers or college students are still preferred as Assistant Program and Camp Coaches. Qualified high school students or athletes with expertise in a specific sport have an opportunity to be hired as assistants. Students/athletes must also demonstrate the ability to lead by example and serve as positive role models in order to continue being a part of the Rookie Sports Club Coaching Team.

Staff Requirements: All employees of Rookie Sports Club must submit the materials listed below:

  • Clear BCI and FBI Background Checks
  • Required Training of the Ohio Department of Health Concussion Law and Lindsey’s Law
  • Completion of Sport Success 360 Coaches’ Training Module

Staff Training and Evaluations:
Coaches complete program training to ensure they lead classes that include developmentally appropriate tasks and implementation of modifications and/or extensions of all skills. Additionally, all coaches are regularly evaluated to ensure our staff is meeting our expectations.

In the event of class being cancelled due to weather, all families will be informed with a phone call and email. Once the facility availability has been confirmed, an email will be sent with the make up day. We always try to schedule the make up day one week after the original scheduled last day. Every effort will be made to hold a make up class. However, in the rare event that there is not facility space or available days, Rookie Sports Club is not responsible for refunds from cancelled classes due to acts of nature.

If a refund is requested prior to two weeks of the start date, Rookie Sports Club will provide a refund minus the registration fees.

If a refund is requested within two weeks of the start date, the request will be submitted for approval based on the reason for the refund. Typically, parents will have the option to either receive a refund less $10.00 and the registration fee, receive a credit to their account, or have their child transferred to any other program available for registration. We will handle refund requests due to extenuating circumstances on a case-by-base basis.

Once a program has started, we are unable to provide refunds. We are able to either transfer your child to another class or provide a partial credit towards a future program.

The decision to run a program or camp depends on the number of participants enrolled. Rookie Sports Club reserves the right to cancel a class when enrollment requirements are not met. If we do need to cancel a program/camp, parents will have the option for a full refund or full credit towards any other program.

The ages provided for our programs are guidelines based on our experience with each age group. However, we do understand every child is different and parents know their child better than anyone. We want parents to have their children participate in the program they feel is most appropriate. The one exception we have is not allowing 2 year olds to participate in the 3-4 year old programs. We have consistently experienced they are simply not ready to be in an instructional setting and it tends to be a negative experience for both the child and the parent.

Rookie Sports Club follows the guidelines provided by the Ohio Department of Health for Youth Concussions and Lindsey’s Law.

Ohio’s Youth Concussion Law, Return to Play
Prohibits coaches from allowing athletes to continue to play if there are symptoms of a concussion. If a child is suspected of having a concussion, they must cleared by a physician or authorized health care provided in order to be allowed to participate in the next class. Lindsey's Law
Educates parents and coaches about the warning signs for a sudden cardiac arrest. For more details about Lindsey’s Law, please click on the following link: Lindsey’s Law.
